The Meyer Suite is the perfect way to experience the Amish Country. Decorated in Amish décor, the suite provides farmland views where horse and buggies can be seen trotting by.

Why the Meyer Suite?

This suite is named after Elias and Peter Meyer.  Elias first purchased the land of the Hertzog Homestead in 1738 from the sons of William Penn.  He built a grain mill and a house down by the Conestoga River, the house which can still be seen along North Farmersville Road.  In 1760, he deeded the Northern part of his land to his son Peter, who build the Sweitzer Barn on the homestead in the mid-1760s and also built the largest part of the house in the late 1760s, where the Historic Metzler Suite is located.

My 2 sisters and I stayed here for 3 nights in the Meyer suite....our first time ever here. We arrived at night...too dark too see the grounds. But in the morning we arose to a breathtaking home...barn...yard...and fields of corn all around us. The private breakfast made for us daily by Elva was so delicious ..we were pleasantly surprised every day with something different. It was a true Amish experience being right in the middle of cornfields...and seeing horse and buggies going by the home was another Amish experience. Unfortunately our 3 days had to come to an end...but Kristen saw us leaving and gave us a departure greet...we left on a Sunday,,,as we were leaving we continued to see horse and buggies one after the other. Church had just let out...what a beautiful sight...we saw at least 50 buggies heading down the street leaving a church not to far from the homestead. Made our trip complete. Thank you Hertzog family for taking such good care of us. Ill be back next year with my husband and a few friends.   Barbara Warren..Bonnie and Judy Puchacz...from New Hampshire

We had a wonderful one-night stay at the Meyer Suite in early September. We highly recommend it - absolutely exceeded out expectations! Kristen and Scott were very gracious and accommodating hosts. The location was perfect - private, quiet, beautiful scenery, and not far from main attractions. The suite was very spacious, nicely appointed and absolutely spotless. We really enjoyed the concept of private breakfast, not to mention how delicious it was! It was an all-around wonderful stay, we only wish we could have stayed longer. We can't wait to return! Thanks Kristen and Scott for your hospitality.

What a lovely time we had here, the room was spacious, nicely furnished and sparkling clean . The bedding was comfortable and the towels in the bathroom were a joy to use . I specially loved the homemade quilt on the four poster bed. The homemade snacks left in our room were delicious and so was the breakfast we had each morning . The refrigerator was stocked with cold water, apple juice and some cans of soda, nice touch . Our hostess was pleasant and so very helpful and very accommodating .Ihighly recommend staying at Hertzog bed-and-breakfast.

We love staying at the Hertzog's Bed and Breakfast. It has a certain warmth and serenity to it and Kristen is such a welcoming hostess. Breakfast is right in your suite and the home-baked pie and breads are a delight. The surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty to do nearby.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The suite was very pretty and so clean, I could have stayed there for a month, so comfortable and warm. The private breakfast was a pleasant change, giving us time to relax, talk and hang out in our bathrobes, we loved it. The owners are wonderful and available for any need you may have. It is located in the middle of all the local attractions. Thank you Kristen and Scott for your Hospitality!!! Ann & Chuck from Jersey, we will see you again.

My husband and I spent two glorious nights at the Hertford Homestead Bed and Breakfast. The accommodations are truly remarkable. It was spotless, comfortable and very roomy. The breakfast was delicious as well as all of the Amish baked goods. We can't wait to return. The location was very convenient to all attractions but also private and quiet. We found this trip through a Living Social coupon and we could not have asked for more! This charming B&B (a quick drive from Baltimore/DC) is as authentic as is gets, and the accommodations were great! It was so nice to wake up, have a cup of coffee, and read about the history of the property in the binder they provided. The surrounding area is beautiful, we saw horse and buggies on every street and there was so much to do for history nerds like us! The hosts were always available - especially when we forgot our key in our room! If you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway this is the place!

Beautiful, new, comfortable and cozy bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Meyer Suite for two nights Valentine's Day weekend. The breakfast that is provided in your room to heat up at your convenience was excellent and the pastries each day were just as delicious. Beautiful area surrounding the bed and breakfast. Just a short distance from Lancaster.

We loved staying at the Hertzog Homestead Bed and Breakfast. Even though it was only for one night we felt we took advantage of all the niceties that were included. A comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, large but cozy room, and ended our evening in the hot tub. Would definitely recommend this B & B to anyone staying in the New Holland/Ephrata area. We hope to return to try out the new accommodations currently under construction. Just be sure to leave a little extra travel time if you are checking out on a Sunday. Please be careful of the local bicyclists and horse and buggies on the scenic but curvy roads.
