The Hertzog Suite is our most romantic suite and provides the perfect escape for you and your loved one.  Sink into your private garden Jacuzzi or cozy up in the sleigh bed, surrounded by views of the Amish farmland.

Why the Hertzog Suite?

Scott’s father, Kenneth Buch Hertzog, moved onto the homestead in 1976.  He was the great, great, great, great grandson of Jacob Metzler, who moved onto the property in 1786. Kenneth farmed the land and also worked as a full-time Excavator for Horst Group Construction company.  When he and his wife moved off the farm in 2003, the farm was bought by his son, Scott Hertzog and his wife Kristen. They are your innkeepers and live here till this day. Their son Kiefer, is the ninth generation of this unbroken bloodline to live on the Homestead.

My hubby and I stayed in the Hertzog Suite for the night of our wedding back in October and it was great! The keys were left out for us since we were getting there later than check in. We had a relaxing evening and wonderful filling breakfast before heading out for our honeymoon.

"My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in the Hertzog Suite in April. We have been to many B&Bs. This was by far our favorite. The Suite was beautiful, clean an tastefully decorated. There was a private patio with a hot tub, very private. The breakfast cassaroles and homemade pastries were wonderful. There was a great welcome basket with wine, chocalate, chips and homemade lotion. Kristen Hertzog greeted us upon our arrival and was very helpful with suggestions about places of interest."

We stayed in the Meyer suite, which was immaculate, charming and spacious. The fourposter bed with the hand sewn quilt was absolutely delightful. The sheets were soft and the Turkish towels were as soft as a cloud and what a pleasure to use, I was very hard-pressed not to take all of them home !! A small kitchenette in our room which was filled with wonderful homemade baked goodies. Breakfast was homemade and we enjoyed them very much. In the bathroom there was a homemade lotion, which I loved so much, I purchased three to bring home to give as gifts. Our hostess, Kristen was helpful, kind and a great host . We highly recommend Hertzog bed-and-breakfast, when visiting the Lancaster area . We hope to visit again soon .

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hertzog Homestead B&B for a weekend in May. I bought the 2 night stay on Living Social. The suite was spacious and clean and the furnishing were beautiful. Right outside our patio door was an amazing view of the beautiful countryside of Ephrata, Pa. not to mention our hot tub, which we used. The breakfast was served in your room and the homemade muffins, pies and breads are made right on the premises. There is soda, water and a Keurig coffee machine in your room for your convenience. I have nothing but, praise for this wonderful little b&b. Bravo Kristen and Scott!

We stayed in the Metzlar suite attached to the owners home. Very clean room. Nice to have breakfast at your leisure in your own room. The food was delicious. Nice selection of coffee and teas from kureig. We had a snow while we there was hoping to be able watch weather but we had no live TV in the room just Netflix. Bed was comfortable. Very nice view of farms and buggy's driving right past your with window for Sunday service.

We stayed in the Hertzog suite on a Monday and Tuesday night and were the only guests at the time. Both of the owners were very nice and accommodating but gave us our space. The suite was spacious, comfortable and very nicely appointed. The breakfast provided was delicious and bountiful and it was nice to enjoy it at our own table. We certainly made use of the private hot tub outside which was devine in the chilly yet very sunny weather looking out over the farmland. We would certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Hertzog Homestead Ephrata, PA April 12th through the 14th, 2016. We have stayed in many B&B's and this one is far and away the best ever. Our hosts were very gracious and helpful. We stayed in the Hertzog Suite in the new carriage house. It was beautifully decorated and spotlesd. As part of our deal th r re was a lovely welcome basket with wine, chocalate, chips and homemade lotion. The Suite had a private patio and hot tub. The view is outstanding. The homemade breakfasts are made by Elva and delivered to your room along with scrumptious homemade pastries the night before with instructions for microwaving. Everything was delicious. It is only a short drive to Lancaster and Intercourse so there is plenty to do. I can't wait to go back again. Thanks Kristen, Scott and Elva.

My husband and I stayed in the Hertzog Suite in the new carriage house. We have stayed at many B & B and this was by far the nicest one ever. We were greeted by Kristen Hertzog on our arrival and she took time to give us an overview of the area. The Hertzog Suite has a private patio and hot tub. The view is outstanding. The homemade breakfasts and pastries were top notch. The suite was clean and beautifully decorated. The Hertzog ' s seemed to anticipate all of our needs. The amenities were fabulous. There was even a welcome basket with wine, chocalate, chips and homemade lotion. I would rate this a 10 if I could. I will definitely be back and recommend the Hertzog to all of my family and friends. Thank you Kristen and Scott and Elva

After a busy and stressful few weeks, my husband and I were in need of some down time to reconnect. Our one-night stay in the Hertzog Suite fit the bill beyond what we could have imagined. The best way I could describe the suite is comfortable luxury. The perfectly-appointed decor, stunning furnishings, cozy linens (including the world's softest throw blanket and fluffiest bath towels) all beckoned us to settle in, relax, and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. Truly, the expansive farmland views are a delight to wake up to...and to take in while we soaked in the private hot tub on the patio. From luxury toiletries to embroidered bath robes, special treats and beverages to elegant yet country-inspired tableware (it reminded me of a French countryside cottage), no detail is overlooked and every aspect of our comfort and convenience was considered. Each piece of the suite came together to make us feel at home and yet completely pampered. Having an Amish-cooked breakfast of scrumptious casserole (from the Hertzog's own eggs!) and fresh baked goods and fruit ready when we arrived to be heated and enjoyed in our room at our leisure was a nice touch, allowing for an unrushed, private breakfast. And though we enjoyed that privacy, it must be said that our hosts, Scott and Kristen Hertzog, were lovely and fascinating people, and it was a joy to get to share a piece of their homestead for a night! We will certainly recommend this to our friends, and hope to repeat our stay in the future.
