The Hertzog Suite is our most romantic suite and provides the perfect escape for you and your loved one.  Sink into your private garden Jacuzzi* or cozy up in the sleigh bed, surrounded by views of the Amish farmland.

Why the Hertzog Suite?

Scott’s father, Kenneth Buch Hertzog, moved onto the homestead in 1976.  He was the great, great, great, great grandson of Jacob Metzler, who moved onto the property in 1786. Kenneth farmed the land and also worked as a full-time Excavator for Horst Group Construction company.  When he and his wife moved off the farm in 2003, the farm was bought by his son, Scott Hertzog and his wife Kristen. They are your innkeepers and live here till this day. Their son Kiefer, is the ninth generation of this unbroken bloodline to live on the Homestead.

* The Garden Jacuzzi is closed until April 1.

First I would like to say I work in the hospitality business at a luxury spa resort so I know how important these reviews are. I purchased 2 Groupons for my husband and myself to get massages at the spa cottage. We spent 1 night in the Hertzog suite. It was spotless, and very well equipped. It is not in the historic building, but it was very comfortable, with very easy access, and no steps. The bedding was luxury all the way. Linens were so soft and high end, and even theAmishh made quilt was new. There were windows all around the room, and this suite has the best views. The hot tub was right outside the back door, overlooking the beautiful farm land. (Opens in April). The communication with owner, Kristen was great, and she responded almost immediately everytime I texted her. Our massage therapist's technique was more of reflexology, and felt more like a chiropractic massage, than a relaxation massage. With more focus on pressure points. It was nice, but different than what I'm used to. The spa cottage was a cozy, glorified storage shed, with not even a waiting area. so if you are looking for a couples massage, this is not it. Breakfast was delicious, and we appreciated the no-egg casserole to accommodate my husband's aversion to eggs. This was a great getaway for us, and we are looking forward to returning. There is so much to do in the area, and one night is not enough.

If you’re looking for a lovely quick getaway, you need to treat yourself... ahhh... five star all the way! Upon arriving, I felt the warmth of welcome with a cheery greeting by Kristen. Her charming personality put me at ease within a moment. I opted to add a massage, and truly entered the halls of relaxation via Jessica’s expertise. The small fireplace was a cozy touch, and I loved experiencing the Hen Hotel - and yes, the hot tub - right outside my window. The food was yummy! Elva will spoil you with scrumptious edible delights, enjoyed in the comfort and privacy of your wonderfully inviting, tastefully decorated room. The scenery truly is beautiful. This has been a much-needed respite for my entire being. Thanks, Kristen and Scott Hertzog, for your ever-so-gracious hospitality. The Hertzog Suite is amazing, and I hope to return again sometime. For now, I have many very special memories to fill my heart. 🌹

Large spacious room with a kitchenette as well. Nice size bathroom. Beautifully decorated.... warm and inviting. Our suite included a private patio with a private little hot tub. We have a marvelous time and intend on returning! The "onsite" dining was of course for breakfast and that was made available in your suite to eat at whatever time was convenient for you.

We have been recommending The Hertzog B&B to all of our friends and family. The suite we stayed in was large and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was nice and roomy as well. LOVED having a kitchenette and the opportunity to have breakfast when we wanted it and in our own suite. Our suite included a private hot tub- a GREAT bonus! Beautiful scenery and a short drive from a large variety of things to see and do. This was a gift to us but we are already looking forward to the opportunity to return next year. You will NOT be disappointed. It will become your new favorite place to stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Hertzog Suite after seeing a Groupon for an amazing deal, and it would have easily been worth paying full price! Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Kristen Hertzog, who poured us generous glasses of the b&b's own Hertzog Reserve Red wine (we later got a bottle in our room as well, it was that tasty) and whipped out a map to make dinner recommendations for us. She even called the restaurant to secure our reservation! We were feeling like VIPs before we even got to our suite. Kristen showed us to our room and gave us a quick run-down of the amenities and breakfast, before leaving us to enjoy our fireplace and private patio with a hot tub. The next morning, we each went for a massage in the quaint spa cottage. The masseuse was wonderful, and we both felt very relaxed as we sat down to our delicious, private, in-room, homemade Amish breakfast. We had an amazingly perfect stay, and we would emphatically recommend a stay in the Hertzog Suite to anyone who is visiting the area or just looking for a romantic, relaxing escape!

Our stay was to celebrate my husband's 39th birthday. When we arrived to the Hertzog Homestead, we were welcomed by Scott and Kristen's daughter whom was a sweetie and she went to the office and sent Katelyn Wright over to check us in. Katelyn is a sweetheart and we found we knew some of her family as they are from our town. It was very nice. The suite was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL, we chose to stay in the Hertzog Suite and its elegance was truly gorgeous. The Suite had so many amenities that made it unique and 5 plus stars in my book. Kristen and Katelyn took us on the Amish Back Roads Tour; if you truly have a desire to learn about and know the people that make up the Amish Mennonite community, I recommend this tour. Kristen is an amazing tour guide whom is full of knowledge about her community. It was wonderful meeting a Mennonite family and sitting with them (a formal meet and greet tea). Breakfast Quiches, muffins, pastries, pies, juice, water, coffee, soda and wines if you like... all available with your room. The cook is WONDERFUL, the Mennonite family we met is WONDERFUL and the Hertzog's are WONDERFUL. I recommend this bed and breakfast and we will be returning for visits as we adore this place, culture and community.

We loved our stay at this lovely B&B. The accommodations were lovely. The room was clean and linens were ample and soft. We enjoyed the hot tub on the chilly fall evening. Breakfast was prepared and ready to heat up at our convenience. The food was delicious. We would recommend this B&B to our friends and hope to stay here again.

My hubby and I stayed in the Hertzog Suite for the night of our wedding back in October and it was great! The keys were left out for us since we were getting there later than check in. We had a relaxing evening and wonderful filling breakfast before heading out for our honeymoon.
